True, many of these books started out poorly and perhaps time and aggravation could have been saved by simply refusing to finish. However, out of respect, boredom, or a masochistic desire to see just how bad a book is - people like me generally finish most if not all of the books and short stories we start. In the horror field, the unfortunate fact is that large publishers often have such a low view of horror readers that they'll put any drivel out there and we find ourselves generally confronted with offensively moronic series, stories boasting ridiculous plots, and books with sub-par proofreading.
Apologies for the long intro; on to my point. This general disregard (not only for horror readers, but for horror writers) means that those of us who love horror are justified in performing some grade "A", top-notch, OCD, research in order to hunt down quality horror fiction.
